For years I have wanted a better-quality prairie dog sound. Capturing those sounds had eluded me for a long time. But luckily for me a coyote helped me out. I came upon a half-blocked culvert that was pounded with coyote tracks after a new snow. A coyote had trapped two prairie dogs inside and had tried unsuccessfully to get them and they were very upset about it. The coyote had left but they were still not happy, and I was able to record their distaste for the situation they were in. These sounds have been used successfully nationwide regardless of proximity to prairie dogs.
