A very young coyote pup about 2 weeks old. Very few very young coyote pup sounds work very well, and I have tried dozens of them. The best pup distress sounds are usually pups older than 4 to 6 weeks. That being said, I have had quite a bit of success with this particular one. It is what I would use as a shorter-range sound to start a stand with at lower volume. Effective as a changeup sound for those coyotes that hang up out of range or just don't quite want to commit for whatever reason. Also seems to work very well at night when thermal hunting and you don't want to play a loud or radical distress sound. Works all seasons.
